Dependent device Sync Module error message

You don't have any online Sync Modules, this is a dependent device, do you want to add a Sync Module first?

The device dependent error message displays when you attempt to add a device that requires a Sync Module before you've added the Sync Module. This article helps you troubleshoot the "You don't have any online Sync Modules, this is a dependent device, do you want to add a Sync Module first?" error message. All cameras are compatible with the Sync Module; however, a Sync Module is required for the Outdoor 4, Outdoor and Indoor (3rd Gen), XT2, XT, and Indoor (1st Gen). 

Add the Sync Module first

  1. Tap Scan Sync Module Serial and scan the QR code of your Sync Module.
  2. Using your mobile device's camera, scan the QR code on the back of your Sync Module. If you're unable to scan the QR code, you can manually enter the serial number listed on the back of your Sync Module in the space provided.

The Sync Module has the serial number and a QR code on the back. The QR code allows your smartphone camera to quickly read the serial number.

  1. Once the Sync Module has been added to your system, you can now add the camera.
