Want to use Alexa devices as a chime for your Blink Video Doorbell? With Doorbell Press Notifications enabled, you can do just that.
Note: This feature is not active by default.
Turn on Doorbell Press Notifications
- Open the Alexa app and tap
Devices in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Tap
Cameras.
- From the list of cameras, tap your Blink Video Doorbell.
- When the Blink Video Doorbell first opens, Alexa shows the Live View. Tap
Settings in the upper right-hand corner.
- Tap Doorbell Press Notifications to toggle them on.
- Tap Announcement Devices to select which Alexa-enabled device you want to chime when your Blink Video Doorbell is pressed.
Choose Doorbell Sound with Alexa
Using the steps below, you can customize the sound your Alexa device makes when someone presses your Blink Video Doorbell:
- Open the Alexa app and tap
Devices in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Tap
Cameras.
- Select your Blink Video Doorbell.
- Tap
Settings in the upper right-hand corner.
- Tap Doorbell Sound (if grayed out, turn on Doorbell Press Notifications).
- Select a sound, then tap
to save and return to the SETTINGS screen.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Alexa announcing my old device's name?
Occasionally, if you change or update your device name from the Blink or Alexa app, Alexa will continue to announce using the previous name. To resolve this issue, you'll need to disable and re-enable doorbell press notifications.

Why are live views not working with Alexa and my Blink Video Video Doorbell?
If live views are not working with Alexa and your Blink Video Doorbell, your Video Doorbell may be in Event Response mode. If your Blink Video Doorbell is in Event Response mode, you can only view a live view within 60 seconds of the doorbell being pressed. If the Blink Video Doorbell has not been pressed, live view commands will not work.
