This article describes how to mount your Video Doorbell.
Three-hole back plate
The Video Doorbell has a weather-resistant battery cover. For best installation, we recommend using the top and bottom mounting holes on a flat surface.
For uneven or smaller surfaces, use the top and middle holes. Be careful to not over-tighten the middle screw. If a gap appears between the back plate and the doorbell, performance is not affected, but you can loosen the middle screw slightly to remove the gap.
Mounting Video
Once you decide on where to install your doorbell, thoroughly clean the surface area.
A paper template is included with your doorbell to show how far apart you drill the mounting holes. This template has the doorbell opening key attached. Make sure to keep this key should you need to remove the doorbell in the future. If you decide to install a Wedge or Corner mount, the same template can be used. Learn about installing a wedge or corner mount.
Tools
- Drill
- Drill bit size:
- Screws: 3/32-inch (2.375 mm)
- Wall anchor: 7/32-inch (5.41 mm)
- Tape to hold the template in place
- Screwdriver
- Clear plastic accessory bag (contains screws and wall anchors)
How do I mount on vinyl siding?
We recommend only using the included mounting kit. However, you can buy screw-free kits to fit standard vinyl siding.
When mounted, the three-holed back plate does not need to form a weather-tight seal. The seal is in the battery door, which gives the doorbell its IP-54 weather-resistant rating.
DeleteShould I install a Wedge or Corner Mount?
The wedge and corner mounts (included in some packages, or sold separately) can correct the doorbell view when the only available surface is angled, or you want to adjust the view.
- Wedge changes the view 5º up-down
- Corner Mount changes the view 25º side-side.
This articles describes how to install a wedge or corner mount for your Blink Video Doorbell.
Viewing angles
The camera in the doorbell has a field of view pointing straight out from the mounting surface. If the image does not capture the desired view, a Wedge Mount offers a 5° vertical tilt and a Corner Mount offers 25° horizontal tilt.

How to Install the Wedge or Corner Mount
1. Choose your mounting spot.
While looking through Live View in the Blink app, adjust your video doorbell's position along your wall and location to get the view you want. Make a mark with a pencil where you want it to be located.
We recommend choosing a spot approximately 46-48 inches (102 -122cm) above the ground.
2. Drill mounting holes.
The included paper template works for both the mounts and the doorbell. Using the pencil marks where you want to place your doorbell, tape the paper template in place. If you want to use the wiring from a doorbell you already have, place the template so that the wires will reach through the central open area of the wedge.
3. Screw the wedge/corner mount accessory into your wall.
The Wedge and Corner Mount accessories ship with a pair of shortened all-purpose screws. These screws are used to secure the doorbell's back plate to the accessory. Use the pointed, regular-length screws to secure the accessory to your wall or surface.
4. Screw the back plate into the mount using the top and bottom holes.
4a (optional). If you're using your existing doorbell's wires, screw these wires into the back of the doorbell after screwing the back plate into the mount.
5. Attach the doorbell and test.
How do I use wall anchors ?
Use the white plastic wall anchors when the threads of the screw cannot dig into the material (such as brick). Drill a hole large enough for the wall anchor to fit in tightly. When you use the mounting screws, the anchors will securely hold the threads.
- Drill a 7/32-inch hole, 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep.
- Insert the wall anchor until it is flush with the mounting surface.
- Continue with the installation.
- Tape the paper template 40 - 48 inches (102 - 122 cm) above the floor.
- Drill two guide holes approximately one inch deep (2.5 cm).
Note: For mounting on brick, stucco, or drywall-type materials, use the included white plastic wall anchors. Included wall anchors fit the hole from a 7/32-inch (5.41 mm) drill bit.
All-purpose screws are included with two wall anchors and wire terminal end caps in the accessory bag. Use two screws even if there are three holes in the back plate.
5. For a flat surface, use the top and bottom screws. For uneven or shorter mounting locations, use the top and middle screw.

Two-hole back plate
This back plate needs to form a weather-tight seal with the doorbell. A flat sturdy placement is important.

We recommend only using the included mounting kit. However, there are screw-free kits available to fit standard vinyl siding. Some good search terms are surface block and vinyl siding wall plate.
To maintain a weather-tight seal, both mounting holes must be covered if they are not being used. Waterproof tape is a recommended option. By design, the included mounting screws fill the space, keeping your doorbell weather-resistant.

- Secure exposed wires if necessary.
If you are not using existing wires, but they are present, twist a grey terminal cap onto each exposed wire tip to prevent dangerous sparking or other issues. Two terminal caps are included in the accessory bag with the mounting screws.

Attach the back plate to your surface with two screws (do not over tighten).
All-purpose screws are included in the accessory bag.
Note: Mount the back plate on a firm, flat surface, to form a weather-tight seal with the doorbell. We recommend only using the included mounting kit. If you chose to use another mounting kit, ensure the mounting holes are covered with a watertight seal.
