Important: Effective 8 October 2025, Blink is making changes to subscription plans. For customers in the United States (U.S.), this includes an increase to subscription pricing. To learn more, visit Blink Subscription Plan Changes.

Important: Once you delete a clip, it’s permanently erased from Blink’s servers and cannot be recovered by Blink Support.

Keep your recordings easily accessible with two storage options:

To learn about storage options for XT, XT2 and Indoor (1st Gen) cameras or legacy accounts, see ‘Storage options for devices and accounts created on or before 15 April 2020’ below.

*Sold separately

When you purchase a Blink Subscription Plan on Blink.com (US only) or Amazon.com, you get access to:

  • Unlimited Cloud Storage for all your Motion Clips and Live Views.
  • Video storage for up to 60 days* (US).
  • Motion clips that automatically delete after 60 days* (US) or your custom Auto Delete setting, whichever comes first.
  • View clips in the Blink app.

Back up cloud clips locally

Your cloud-stored video clips are automatically backed up locally when you have:

A local backup of your cloud clips occurs automatically once every 24 hours to your USB or MicroSD.

Clips stored on a USB drive or MicroSD card can only be viewed on a computer, not through the Blink app. Learn more about viewing Clip Backups.

Note: Legacy Blink devices like XT, XT2 and Indoor (1st Gen) don’t support Clip Backup. For more information, see Storage options for devices and accounts created on or before 15 April 2020 below.

Local Storage

Save clips without a Blink Subscription Plan using Local Storage:

  • Clips save directly to:
    • USB drive (with Sync Module 2) or
    • MicroSD card (with Sync Module XR).
  • Clips remain until you delete them or the drive is full.
    • When full, new recordings stop until you free up space.
  • Storage capacity depends on your USB drive or MicroSD card size.
  • View clips in the Blink app.

Note

No storage

You don't have to store Motion Clips for your Blink camera to work. Without storing your Motion Clips, you still have access to:

  • Live View
  • Motion Alerts
  • Two-Way Audio
  • Important: Advanced features like Smart Detection, Blink Moments and Custom Snooze are available with a Blink Subscription Plan or no-cost trial.

    Legacy devices and accounts

Older Blink devices and accounts have unique storage features that differ from newer models. Here are the key features and important considerations to keep in mind.

    Legacy devices

Legacy devices were released on or before 15 April 2020 and include the Blink XT, XT2 and Indoor (1st Gen) cameras.

    Features for legacy devices

    Storage
    • Cloud Storage only.
    • Not compatible with Local Storage option.
    • No ability to back up Cloud Storage.
    Motion Detection
    • Basic alerts only.
    • Not compatible with Person or Vehicle Detection.
    • Not compatible with Photo Capture.
    Saving a live view:
    • Available for XT2 without a subscription. Keep in mind, Live View recordings share the same 7,200-second Cloud Storage limit (per Sync Module) as your other recordings.
    • Not available for XT and Indoor (1st Gen) cameras even with a Blink Subscription Plan.

When your trial or subscription ends:

    • You'll lose access to unlimited Cloud Storage.
    • Your device will revert to whatever cloud storage remains from your total 7,200-second allocation per Sync Module. If you need additional storage space, you can free up room by deleting saved clips.
Caution: Once you delete a clip, it’s permanently erased from Blink’s servers and cannot be recovered by Blink Support.

    Legacy Accounts

Legacy accounts were created on or before 15 April 2020 and have the following storage features:

    Storage:
    • 7,200 seconds per Sync Module (not per individual camera).
    • Storage is capped at 36,000 seconds per legacy account.
    • Multiple devices on same Sync Module share the 7,200 seconds of Cloud Storage.
    • Clips automatically delete when:
      • Total recording time reaches 7,200 seconds or
      • Clips are 60 days old (US/CA/MX/AU/NZ) or 30 days old (UK/EU), whichever comes first.
    Mini camera storage:
    • A new Mini camera on a legacy account adds 7,200 seconds of Cloud Storage.
    • Multiple Mini cameras on these accounts share this 7,200-second storage limit.
    Saving a live view:
    • Without a Blink Subscription Plan, legacy account holders can save Live View recordings with any Blink device except the XT and Indoor (1st Gen) cameras*.
    • Available for XT2 without a subscription. Keep in mind, Live View recordings share the same 7,200-second Cloud Storage limit (per Sync Module) as your other recordings.

*Even with a Blink Subscription Plan, XT and Indoor (1st Gen) cameras cannot record live views.

    Subscription options:

    • Any subscription plan provides unlimited storage (Blink.com (US only) or Amazon.com).
    • If you cancel your subscription, your account reverts to 7,200 seconds of available Cloud Storage.

Note: If you cancel your Blink Subscription Plan, you'll lose access to subscription features, and your devices will revert to 7,200 seconds of available Cloud Storage per Sync Module.
