Using Vehicle Detection

Vehicle Detection is a Blink Subscription feature available for Blink Mini 2, Outdoor 4, Wired Floodlight and the Video Doorbell (2nd Gen). This feature uses computer vision to identify moving vehicles, making it convenient to review vehicle activity and reduce unwanted vehicle-triggered motion events.

Turning Vehicle Detection on/off

To turn Vehicle Detection on or off:

  1. Open the Blink app and tap the More (⋯) button on the camera thumbnail from the Home screen.
  2. Select Device Settings, then Motion Settings.
  3. Tap Smart Detection.
  4. Check the box for Vehicle Detection.
  5. Tap Save to apply your changes.

Note: To turn Vehicle Detection off, uncheck the box and tap Save.

When Vehicle Detection is on, you'll receive a ‘Vehicle detected at [Camera Name]’ notification, and a ‘Vehicle’ event type label will automatically be added to the clip list. This allows you to filter clips with a ‘Vehicle’ event type label. Learn how to filter and view motion clips in the Blink app.
