Blink App Troubleshooting

This article provides steps to troubleshoot common problems with the Blink App, such as app crashes, short-lived functionality after installation, and potential conflicts with other apps.

Functionality

After installing the Blink App, users may experience a short-lived period of functionality before encountering issues.

Attempt the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Ensure that your device meets the minimum system requirements for running the Blink App.
  2. Check your internet connection. Unstable or weak internet connectivity can affect the app's performance.
  3. Force quit and relaunch the Blink App.
  4. Restart your device and launch the Blink App again.
  5. If the issue persists, uninstall the Blink App, restart your device, and reinstall the latest version of the app.
  6. If the problem continues, contact Blink Support.

Android

Some Android device manufacturers include data control features that can restrict internet access for certain apps. If the Blink app encounters such restrictions, it may initially appear to function normally but eventually stop displaying information due to the lack of an internet connection, which is essential for its operation.

If the Blink app suddenly stops working after initially functioning correctly, check your device's "Data Usage Control" or similar setting for the app and ensure it is set to "Allow" internet access.

The specific steps may vary depending on your device's manufacturer and Android version, but generally, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Data usage control and tap the Blink app icon.
  2. Select Allow from the available options (Allow, Forbidden, Wi-Fi Only, Data Only).
  3. Close and reopen the Blink app to ensure it is displaying information correctly.
  4. If the problem continues, contact Blink Support.

By allowing internet access for the Blink app, you should resolve any issues caused by data control restrictions, enabling the app to function as intended.

Certain Android and iOS applications, such as virtual private networks (VPNs), antivirus software, file optimizers, ringtone managers, and battery savers, can interfere with Blink notifications.

Attempt the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Identify any recently installed apps that may be causing conflicts with the Blink App.
  2. Disable or uninstall the conflicting app temporarily and check if the Blink App functions properly.
  3. If the Blink App works without issues after disabling the conflicting app, consider finding an alternative app or contacting the developer for a resolution.
  4. If disabling the conflicting app does not resolve the issue, contact Blink Support for further assistance.

If you experience issues with Blink app notifications or other functions, remove any conflicting software like ad blockers (e.g., AdGuard), antivirus programs (e.g., AVG AntiVirus, McAfee Mobile Booster, Norton Antivirus), and system optimizers (e.g., Clean Master).

Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)

VPNs can also interfere with the Blink device setup process, causing errors such as HTTP 403 or 406, inability to sign into Blink, or unauthorized access. Some antivirus apps automatically install and activate a VPN. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

Disable or remove any active VPN on your mobile device before attempting the setup process.

App Versions:

  •  iOS: Disable the VPN from the main Settings screen or delete it by navigating to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management.
  •  Android & FireOS: Open Settings > Network & internet > Advanced > VPN, then disconnect or forget the VPN.

After disabling or removing the VPN, restart the Blink app to verify the issue is resolved.

You can re-enable the VPN after completing the setup.
