How to arm and disarm your doorbells or cameras with Alexa
Before you begin, ensure that you have:
- Enabled the Blink SmartHome Skill.
- The latest version of the Blink and Alexa apps, and that your Alexa-enabled device is up to date.
- Create an Alexa Voice Code to disarm your system.
Arm and Disarm with Alexa
To arm your Blink system, say: ‘Alexa, arm [system name]’.
To disarm your Blink system, say: ‘Alexa, disarm [system name]’.
Arm with Alexa Routines
Note: You cannot disarm your system with Alexa Routines.
Alexa Routines offer a convenient way to arm your Blink system. To set up a routine:
- Open the Alexa app.
- Tap More in the lower-right corner.
- Tap Routines.
- Tap the plus sign in the upper-right corner to create a New Routine.
- If desired, tap Rename to override the default name and enter a New Routine name of choice (for example, ‘Arm Blink system’) and tap, Next.
- Tap WHEN to add an event.
- Tap Voice, and enter the phrase you’d like to use (for example, ‘I’m leaving’) and tap, Next.
- Under ALEXA WILL, tap add an action.
- Tap Smart Home.
- Tap All Devices and identify the name of your system.
- Tap on your system name, (for example, Blink outdoor system).
- Under Security Panel, tap Arm Away and tap Next.
- Tap Save.
Once you’ve completed all the steps, we encourage you to test the routine by tapping the play button icon next to the routine name or by using the Alexa phrase that you created for the routine (for example, ‘I'm leaving’).
Arming your system will be registered as an event on the History screen in your Blink and Alexa apps.
