My Outdoor 4 isn’t showing as a device option when ‘Adding a Device’. What should I do?

If you have any difficulties setting up the camera in the Blink app, make sure that you have the latest version of your mobile device operating system installed with all updates, and you have the latest version of the Blink app. To add a camera to a Blink system, you can either enter the serial number manually or use your device camera to scan a QR code. How do I connect my Outdoor 4 to other services?

Amazon

Alexa
Connect the Blink and Alexa apps to discover devices and control them with your voice. In the Alexa app, you ‘Launch’ the Blink app and a screen appears asking for your Blink account username and password. IFTTT
‘If this then that’ (IFTTT) is a service that allows you to connect multiple devices and configure them.

Why isn’t my Outdoor 4 capturing all motion events?

Make sure your system is armed
When you first set up your Blink system, your system is disarmed by default. Learn more about arming your Blink system.

Check your camera’s positioning
Make sure your Outdoor 4 is mounted correctly with the lens positioned in the upper-left corner as you face it.
 
The best motion detection occurs with side-to-side motion. Learn more about positioning your camera on your Outdoor 4.

Check your camera’s Motion Detection Types in camera settings
The Outdoor 4 offers three different options for Motion Detection and Notification. Make sure your camera is set to record and notify you of the events you’d like to see.
 
All Motion
All motion detection recordings are saved in the Clips tab. If notifications are enabled, you receive detection notifications for all motion.
 
Person Detection
Only Person Detection recordings are saved in the Clips tab. If notifications are enabled, you receive only People Detection notifications.
 
Nothing
No recordings are saved, but you’ll receive notifications of motion.

How can I safely power my Outdoor 4 camera with a USB cable?

Why can’t I set up my Outdoor 4 outside the US and Canada?

Currently, the Outdoor 4 is only available to use in the US and Canada. The camera and Blink systems are region locked, meaning they’re designed to work with US or Canada Sync Modules and won’t function in other locations.

Why am I getting a dependent device error when adding an Outdoor 4?

During your Blink setup, you may receive the message ‘You don’t have any online Sync Modules. This is a dependent device. Do you want to add a Sync Module first?’ This means you scanned the device serial number before setting up a Sync Module. If you don’t have a Sync Module, visit Sync Module FAQs to learn more.

How can I get my Activity Zones to work correctly with my Outdoor 4?

If you’re experiencing issues with Activity Zones, it’s important to understand how they work. With Activity Zones, the camera not only uses the PIR sensor, but it also analyses the actual image to look for changes. You may need to experiment with the positioning of the camera, as well as with the zones you’ve enabled/disabled so that you can find out what works best in your environment. How can I resolve a ‘Camera is offline’ message concerning my Outdoor 4?

If your Outdoor 4 is offline, your camera thumbnail will be dimmed out with the message ‘Camera is offline’. This can often be resolved by removing your batteries from the camera for five seconds and then reinserting them. If your batteries no longer have a charge, you’ll need to replace them.
